Members of our team have worked on quite a few high profile games and movies in their long careers such as:
Games — Star Citizen, Destiny 2, Dreadnought, Horizon Zero Dawn, COD blops 3/4, Halo Remastered, Dead Island 2, Spec Ops — The Line, Earth & Beyond, The Sims Online, Ultima Online, Warhammer Online, Lord of the Rings, etc
Cinema — Love, Death + Robots: The helping hand, Watchmen, Terminator: Dark Fate, Captain Marvel, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Superman Returns, Spider-Man: FFH,
Our team is in constant expansion as well, we went from 4 members in January to over 120 now!

Can you tell us about why you thought Star Atlas as a game needed to be integrated into Crypto?

Yes!
We were just getting started!
There have always been MMO/RPGs, and great high quality games, but every person who has played one knows how time consuming they can become, and you end up not receiving anything in exchange for the time you spend in the game. Crypto brings the possibility of monetizing the time spent in game plus other limitless possibilities as well.
The idea is to give the power back to the people using blockchain tech

We see Star Atlas with the potential to attract a mass audience and hope to be the gateway for a lot of people into crypto.
Our vision is to build a game attractive for everyone

How did Star Atlas start? And when do you plan on launching the game?

Star Atlas started back in December, founded by Michael Wagner, Pablo Quiroga, Jacob Floyd and Danny Floyd.
Danny and Jacob are brothers and have developed several high quality games together
Michael is the CEO and has a big background in gaming and finance
Pablo has huge experience in leadership and as an investor, he is currently Chief Revenue Officer at Star Atlas

What is the Star Atlas token used for? Can you describe the Tokenomics?

Star Atlas operates a dual token economy, with the two crypto-native assets being ATLAS and POLIS.
ATLAS is the transactional currency of the game. Effectively the in-game gold, and the lubricant of the digital economy. It is used for virtually every transaction within the Metaverse, and will also be one of the primary financial reward mechanisms for gamers. ATLAS also provides a 33% discount on certain asset purchases from us, the developer, such as Ships and Components.
POLIS is a dual-purposed governance token. Within the game, POLIS provides the holder with strategic benefits of political domination. Controlling a region of space opens up mechanics of taxation of other players, and the ability to define rules, laws, fines and fees within the micro-metropolis. Externally, POLIS provides holders with true governance rights over long-term development decision making. Opening up the potential for pure decentralization of game development in the years to follow. And naturally, POLIS provides a 33% discount on Land and Crew when purchased from us . The governance token, POLIS, will also play a pivotal role in the decentralized corporations. We anticipate these micro-metropolises to be largely guided by voting abilities of the underlying players. The extent to which a guild wants to utilize that functionality in their decision making is subjective, but the tools are present.

Can you explain to us what DAC (Decentralised autonomous corporations) means and what it’s all about?
Santi
Of course, DACs are going to be a BIG part of Star Atlas. I’ll refer to out whitepaper to answer this one
They’re the guild system of Star Atlas. The Universe of Star Atlas is expansive. It is a lonely, challenging journey tackling the countless perils alone. Players are encouraged to create factions, combine resources, and compete collectively to outsmart other players.
Through the implementation of Decentralized Autonomous Corporations(DAC), entire space-cities can be constructed, and the micro-economy managed by those in charge. Careful strategic cooperation enables players to dominate regions, and the resources available therein. The POLIS token will serve a pivotal role in these cities, permitting the owners of political clout to impose taxes, fees, fines, rules, and laws on those outside the DAC wishing to gain access to these entirely independently owned cities.
There are already more than 10 Guilds being formed in the Star Atlas community!

We have seen how games like Axie have positively affected 3rd World countries like Vietnam. Does Star Atlas believe it could have a similar effect on emerging markets with its Play2Earn model?

Of course, we would love Star Atlas to have an impact in people’s lives and we are aiming for that. P2E gives people the opportunity to access to an income that because of their countries situation they will be never able to access, and it can really change lives.
As I said before, we are building our in-game economy to reward people based on the time spent playing :D

Tell us more about your metaverse and where you are going with this. Please describe the realm of possibilities.

The metaverse is very much a long term objective of ours. At initiation, our focus is largely on delivering a top quality (AAA) rated video game title, that has potential to attract millions, or even hundreds of millions of users. However, the team views the metaverse as the potential future of the internet. It has prospects to be the future of online social interaction, commerce, and innovation. For example, imagine if Nike had a shoe store inside of Star Atlas where users can view products in 3D/AR, purchase that product with a connected wallet, and have the physical good shipped to their house.

With respect to mechanisms, we outline a few:
1. Fully functioning economic system
2. Ability for individuals to create content and deliver on unique ideas
3. A place to socialize and share time outside of our game mechanics
4. The ability to participate in governance of the metaverse itself — which we implement through the POLIS DAO

I know that you have had a lot of developments recently; What are you currently working on and can you describe your future roadmap?

Yes! We are currently working on one of our most important sprints ever. We are launching new things nearly every day!
I’ll share with you guys what our roadmap looks like so far :). Some of these dates are confirmed and some are still subject to change.

Yes of course!
One of the challenges we faced is the huge growth of our internal team, as I said before, we went from 4 members to +120 in less than a year! I think in spite of the huge growth all new team members are adapting really easily and being super productive!

Another challenge could be the ReBirth launch, it was like our first test of Star Atlas in the market, and we’re happy to say that it was a great success, generating over 6 million dollars in revenue that went straight into development!
