My name is Santi, I’m Head Community Lead at Star Atlas. I have been in crypto full time since 2019 and managing communities since 2017. Star Atlas for me has been a mind-blowing experience, everything I read, share, and communicate with the community gets me excited and makes me want to do more.

Of course, Star Atlas is a virtual gaming metaverse emerging from the confluence of state-of-the-art blockchain, real-time graphics, multiplayer video game, and decentralized financial technologies.
Star Atlas uses blockchain technology through the Solana protocol that establishes a largely serverless and secured game experience; Unreal Engine 5’s Nanite allows cinematic quality video game visuals, and Non-fungible tokens obtained and traded within Star Atlas to create an economy that replicates the tangibility of real-world assets and ownership.

Hehe, we currently are not giving any specific date. We release information of every step of our roadmap and changes through official announcements, and simultaneously on the Star Atlas Communities on Discord, Telegram Server, Twitter, and other channels. These announcements include public news releases on our Medium Blog and website. We also announce and make information available in the Star Atlas Community weekly Town Hall events with the C-deck, which includes a Q&A session. telegram and discord are where we do our official announcements. This week we started the opening of the mini game with faction Selection.

Why do you have 2 tokens? Can you explain the difference between them and describe the Tokenomics?

The why goes with the role of each one in the game.
POLIS is the governance token used at each level of governance, representing financial stake in the game, voting power in the DAOs where it is staked, and control of the Treasury. It has a fixed supply that will not grow (unless a decision to the contrary will be made by governance down the line)
ATLAS is the payment token used as a medium of exchange.
It is inflationary, aiming to match the growth of the in-game economy and provide a solid monetary base for in-game economic interactions and onramps to enter the game.

The Unreal Engine 5 really sets the bar high when comparing what I have seen so far too many other games. The graphics are incredible, and the game looks like something I would personally get lots in for many hours a day. What do you think will be the primary drivers for people to play this game?

The first thing we need to take into account is that Star Atlas will implement Unreal Engine 5’s Nanite that allows cinematic quality video game visuals. All these cutting-edge technologies used to build Star Atlas create an active online ecosystem and play-to-earn economy never seen so far by gaming and crypto enthusiasts.
We are just in the early stages of discovering the future of gaming, especially in blockchain. How would it improve? Well, the first thing is that we will see more games implementing quality visuals. But what I think is more important is the fact that it creates a reality that not only is appealing to the user but also that adds value.
Star Atlas is a game for everyone who dreams to immerse themselves in the metaverse. Yet, I believe one of the main ways we aim to attract new gamers is by the possibility of play to earn. With its own economy and different possibilities, Star Atlas is the gate to spread knowledge and the meaning of DeFI.

Especially with games like Star Atlas which will draw in traditional gamers who have not had much exposure to cryptocurrency markets yet and are unfamiliar with setting up wallets etc. The advantages of using Unreal Engine 5 are clear, but I am curious to know why you chose to build on Solana?

Unlike other layer-1, smart contract-enabled blockchains, an abundance of external validators run nodes for Solana, making it a true fit for DeFi.
The Solana network has the capacity to process more than 50,000 transactions per second, and up to ten times that amount. It brings a new approach to decentralization guaranteeing security and accuracy of transactions by providing historic records of transactions on the chain as they are added to it using a unique algorithm known as Proof-of-History.
All these cutting-edge technologies used to build Star Atlas create an active online ecosystem and play-to-earn economy never seen so far by gaming and crypto enthusiasts.
Think of Solana as Ethereum 2.0, but much faster. It’s a smart contract platform that is designed to be swifter and cheaper than anything else like it.

Under the contemporary leadership of Charon Gotti Jr., MUD Territory was established as the only legitimate human faction in the Council of Peace. Despite the dramatic losses in the Convergence War decades prior, MUD emerged as an industrial powerhouse in the region by securing diplomatic relations through fair trade with ONI and Ustur.

100%, Our CEO Michael has said that play 2 earn model is basically the chance for everyone to dream and to make money. We know places like Brazil where are starting to be formed and most of its priorities is to give an opportunity for many who are looking into having fun as well as bringing money to their houses.

You said earlier that it is not possible to change factions after the game has started. Why is that?

Faction selection is a permanent decision, we do this so that people are loyal to what they pick because you’ll literally be able to decide the destiny of the faction you select!

One last question — What are Faction security zones and how do they work?

The zones are secured by the respective factions.
New players choose a faction and start in a faction-secured safe zone. This allows the player to explore all the basic functions of the game except destructive based gameplay loops such as rescue, combat and salvage. Once the player is sufficiently confident enough to venture out, there is a medium tiered safety zone that is secured by mercenary groups. Combat is now allowed but your assets will be reset if destroyed. The final distant zone of Star Atlas is a wild frontier where full combat and the destruction of assets is a permanent event. However, only a portion of assets in combat are destroyed permanently. For example, the results of a destroyed ship in combat is that the ship asset is decimated into components, scrap, escape podded crew members, and a certain amount is lost forever.

Nearly everything on Star Atlas will be an NFT. Crew, ship, land, planets, components, skins, etc!
Star Atlas will use NFts for the following:
- Reflecting item’s ownership
- Recording item’s specifics, like weapon hit-points, armor class, skill
boosts, special bonuses, etc.
- Recording items rarity, i.e., its value is based on statistical probability of item drop or value of components used to craft the item

Star Atlas first takes inspiration from the Titan Atlas, who was tasked with carrying the weight of the universe (heavens) on his shoulders, with a subtle nod to Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. Atlas is also defined as a combination or collection of maps. And one of the primary goals within Star Atlas is to explore, navigate, and discover the stars, and capture that data for fellow explorers. So, the complete meaning of the name represents both the emergence of a new Universe (metaverse), and the spirit of exploration of the stars.
