Could we begin with a brief history of yourself and your team, and your roles at Kurobi and what you were doing before Kurobi?

I’m Takuya, one of the co-founders of Kurobi. We’ve started working on Kurobi App and trying to improve Kurobi community as you see our SNS. My role is mainly management of the project and also to focus on the marketing especially in the Asian market. I’ve been in businesses in many countries and now I’m 100% focused on this project.

How and where did you first encounter crypto? and can you tell us about why you thought Kurobi needed to be built and what problem it solves?

I encountered crypto through one of my team members.
We are small team of 5 members and started Kurobi because of our frustration with using existing systems for pair programming. We usually would use calendly for scheduling and paypal for payment but sadly, you can’t receive paypal payment in the most populous African country. We learnt about Solana and how fast it was and how well it could solve our payment problem and decided to build on it. Shortly after we entered for the Solana season hackathon and won the KIN prize and African regional prize.

How did Kurobi start and how would you describe the tech to someone unfamiliar with digital assets?

Kurobi started as an effort to unbridle the earning potential of people with value to share from Fintech disadvantaged parts of the world.
We are using a blend of high-end video conferencing technology, a scheduling mechanism and payment processing engine with crypto. If you’re not familiar with crypto, that’s fine too because we’ve made access to Kuro simple enough that you can basically buy it with your debit card and have a chat with experts hosting on Kurobi in a few easy steps

The KURO token is the utility token that powers the platform. with KURO, you pay to book 1:1 calls, you pay to mint NFT tickets which you can sell to your audience for live events. You can also use it to tip your creator and so much more.
