KILT — Represent Your Identity Without Revealing Your Identity.

KILT is a blockchain protocol for issuing self-sovereign, anonymous, revocable, verifiable credentials and decentralized identifiers.

KILT is a blockchain protocol that enables innovative, industry-agnostic business models around identity.

It’s our pleasure to have you with us today. I would like to welcome you here on behalf of our entire community.

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

Hi! good to be here.

Elisa | KILT Protocol

Hi, thanks for having us 🙂

Bilo | Crypto Society

Could we begin with a brief history of yourself and your team and your roles and what you were doing before Kilt?

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

Hi I am Ingo. I am the founder of KILT Protocol and the CEO of BOTLabs GmbH, the company that initially developed KILT Protocol.

Before that I was CTO of Hubert Burda Media, a big publishing house here in Germany. I was also Project Director at Axel Springer some years ago.

I am one of the founding members of the International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications (INATBA) and I served on the Board of Directors of the Drupal Association.

Bilo | Crypto Society

Thank you for the background.

I would like to congratulate you on Kilt’s recent success in winning a Kusama Parachain slot. We have witnessed an explosion of support and following on social media channels with a growing number of followers and supporters. To what do you attribute this success?

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

We have a great community of supporters who share our vision of a better internet in the future. KILT aims to restore trust in the internet and to re-democratize the web. KILT provides ways for the user to have strict control of their own data, helping to break up data silos and establishing a level playing field.

Bilo | Crypto Society

I understand that Kilt is now completely decentralized as you have removed the Sudo Key. Why do you think decentralization is so important?

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

Great question. We’re lucky to live in a time where we have the technology to create decentralized, peer-to-peer networks that really work. Blockchains should be totally decentralized. That means: the community makes the decisions about changing parameters or even upgrades. There is no central entity like a company for that.

Bilo | Crypto Society

Thank you.

Most projects that have deployed on the parachain auctions have two distinct projects. One for Kusama and one for Polkadot. You have decided to keep the same project on both relay chains. Can you explain why?

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

KILT was designed to only exist on one network, with only one KILT Coin. It is meant to mature on Kusama, where it gets the cool new functionalities from the Polkadot developers months before they are available on Polkadot. We are also very happy with the dev-centred community on Kusama and the other projects launching there…

If later KILT needs the additional security provided by Polkadot, the whole network with all identities and all balances may move over to Polkadot. Of course, this decision is made by the community and not by us. My recommendation would be: take advantage of Kusama as long as Dotsama functionality evolves quickly, move over when it has slowed down.

Bilo | Crypto Society

Excellent strategy sir.

What is the Sporran wallet?

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

Currently Sporran is a simple KILT Wallet application, which comes as a Browser extension. With it you can make accounts, see balances, transfer funds and sign KILT transactions initiated by 3rd party applications.

In December, new Sporran functionality will enable users to create digital identities using KILT blockchain mechanisms. Sporran will then be like a physical wallet that stores not only your coins but also personal verifiable credentials and allows the user to sign them digitally.

Bilo | Crypto Society

That’s truly revolutionary. Game changer in many respects as is the protocol itself!

Christine | KILT Protocol

Hi — I’m Christine w/ KILT — here’s a bit of context for Sporran (and Stakeboard)

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

Yes. we hope many crypto wallets will hold also credentials in the future.

Bilo | Crypto Society

Please describe/explain the Kilt ecosystem. What are you looking to accomplish with partnerships and integrations?

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

Oh thanks for this question.

Basically there are 3 parts of the ecosystem

1: Builders and partners from the various blockchain ecosystems: They build their own blockchains or applications, which make use of KILT as a practical infrastructure. Blockchains often need identity and it’s very hard to implement. Using KILT is easy, standardised and makes development much faster.

2: Integrators: In most successful open source ecosystems the integrators are the key to success. Integrators use the KILT SDK to build solutions for their customers. This can be private companies, institutions or governments. These integrators charge for their work and multiply the adoption of KILT.

3: Attesters: One of the biggest economies worldwide is the economy of trust. Trusted entities like many companies, news outlets, agencies, NGOs and even churches and governments live by building, maintaining and monetising trust. KILT helps them to move into the digital world, issuing signed credentials to their customers.

Elisa | KILT Protocol

all partnerships and new integrators will be announced here:

Bilo | Crypto Society

Thanks for the clear breakdown.

Last time we had an AMA, we discussed Token Curated Attesters. (TCA’s). Can you tell us a little about this?

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

Very good question. We changed the name to Virtual Credential Organization (VCO) since the last time we spoke. VCOs are currently in development and will be a huge part of 2022. Basically VCOs enable Attesters to run their business completely on the KILT blockchain. This will definitely be a game changer.

NFT’s are a hot item. What are your thoughts on this? Does Kilt have any plans to introduce NFT’s into their ecosystem? I don’t mean jpegs of course. I’m referring to high tech NFT’s that link to identity or other such use cases.

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

We are currently speaking with a couple of very well-known players in the NFT ecosystem. The general question is always: How can I prove ownership or authorship of an NFT. This is exactly what I meant with KILT helping digital ecosystems move faster by using us as an infrastructure. NFT providers can incorporate KILT into their systems, providing a better service, without having to dig into the complicated matter of digital identity.

Bilo | Crypto Society

Very exciting. I’m sure we are all looking forward to learning more about this.

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

I guess there will be some announcements in the near future…

Bilo | Crypto Society

👀

Bilo | Crypto Society

Can you describe the future roadmap for Kilt?

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

Sure. That’s actually pretty easy. We will launch the identity version of Sporran and the SocialKYC service in the coming weeks. This is a big milestone for us, as we have been working on this for many months and there are many projects out there waiting for it. Next year there are two things we focus on:

1. Building a big, healthy and fun developers’ community around KILT Core and KILT SDK.

2. Getting VCOs done and deployed, so that people can start building their virtual organisations on top of KILT.

Bilo | Crypto Society

Thanks Ingo. Your answers are so concise and efficient that I have to ask you a question.

Ummm; Are you German?

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

😊 a bit

Bilo | Crypto Society

Hahahahahahaha

Elisa | KILT Protocol

He is very much a berliner 🙂

L B| Crypto Society

Muddastadt ❤️🥰

Christine | KILT Protocol

And we are only allowed to drink German beer at office parties 🍻

Bilo | Crypto Society

Ok so we normally have a longer Q/A session with our guest in the muted session setting but we will open up the chat for the many that have joined here today in order to have an opportunity to ask their questions directly. The Kilt team will decide which questions to answer and which questions will win some SWAG. Kindly remember that questions related to the price of $Kilt and markets or exchanges will not be answered.

Anurag

In your website I saw revocable credentials so What are revocable credentials and why are they important? And when social kyc waiting for it🌝

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

Credentials should be revocable by the issuer. Think of an education certificate which requires you to constantly learn. If you don’t meet the expectations, it should be revoked. As credentials are in the possession of the claimer, it would be valid forever if it could not be revoked. This could even damage the reputation of the issuer.

Valent MASTER🍀🍀

The only way for the blockchain industry to expand and develop is for us to have users who can easily use the product. What unique features of KILT can help attract more users and developers to use it?

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

You are completely right. It is our mission to make digital identity accessible to people. This is why we:

a) have built the SDK on TypeScript, so that also non-blockchain devs can build applications on KILT and

b) provide initial very useful services like SocialKYC and Sporran.

🗡 Mr. Highland Tigger 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

How many DID’s have there approximately been created with KILT?

Are there any updates you could give to us on your collaboration with Energy Web and Dena?

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

The first phase of this project has now ended and the official report is going to be released soon.. It was in fact very successful as we could showcase how KILT, EWT and Smart meters could work together. Next phases to come.

DIAMOND GEM💎

Do you have user manual or short videos that would guide potential users of project to safely navigate your platform?

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

dev.kilt.io/ has all of our developer tools including our Javascrip SDK.

Great videos here, start with the first one:

Vupng Brite

Do holders have right to participate in the governance of the project? On What kind of decisions can they vote on about the project?

Ingo Ruebe| KILT Protocol

Yes! actually all decisions are made by the holders. This includes changing parameters or even upgrading the system. Also all holders are more than invited to run for office in the governance boards which are called council and tech committee. There will be regular votes on that. Council for example decides on the use of the treasury funds. This I think is one of the biggest innovation, which Polkadot brought to the blockchain world.

Elisa | KILT Protocol

And I think that concludes it 🙂

Bilo | Crypto Society

Thank you guys!

Congratulations to the winners for having your questions selected by the Kilt team for a prize.
