Could we begin with a brief history of yourself and your team, and your roles at Fantom Oasis and what you were doing before Fantom Oasis?

There are 3 of us on the team. @DrThadCastle @SamFisher321 and myself. @DrThadCastle was a programmer working in traditional tech (ai, self-driving cars, computer vision etc…). I was a trader, @SamFisher321 was a businessman and Blockchain enthusiast.
@DrThadCastle and I have known each other for quite some time, we met @SamFisher321 through our shared love of Fantom.

I have been holding Fantom for years now and have been actively involved in the community during that time.

As to why I invested. I saw the promise that it had to offer in bridging the gap between traditional finance and pure decentralization. Ethereum itself is too decentralized and lacked control that banks wanted. Fantom offered a middle ground and I still believe it can.

But for the time being they are focused on building our their more decentralized pure crypto offering, the OPERA network. And therefore, so are we. I haven’t done too badly. But there is much work to still be done ;)

How and where did you first encounter crypto?

Well…believe it or not it was a long time ago. As many of us I’m sure… have our own story.
I was too young and unlearned to appreciate it at the time.
But I digress. Anyways as for the project itself. Perhaps I should get to that.

Yes, can you tell us about why you thought Fantom Oasis needed to be built and what problem it solves?

@SamFisher321 was the master mind really. He saw the lack of a bridge between Fantom developers and a coherent community to launch from. That is to say…many developers want to launch on Fantom, but the same well-developed avenues for capital raising, to get users involved etc… that all exists on Ethereum but doesn’t quite exist on fantom yet. Or if they do, not with the same level of magnitude or sophistication.

So true. so how did Fantom Oasis start then?

On the flip side, many fantom users want to purchase and actively use (liquidity mine, stake, contribute in other ways etc…) Fantom projects but lack appropriate avenues to get a good stream of legitimate projects.
So, we knew @SamFisher321 already through the community and he knew Kevin was a developer…so he pitched us the idea and we after some deliberation we ran with it.

How would you describe Fantom Oasis if you were talking to someone unfamiliar with digital assets?

I guess one point of comparison could be the “traditional” start-up world…where you have start-up incubators that fund and help develop new projects and companies. We are kind of like that.
The question then becomes of course…why have a token for such an entity?

Excellent; Why did you choose to build on the Fantom Opera network?

1. We have long been committed to the Fantom ecosystem (as most of our crypto portfolio allocation, staking, involved with the community and team, node runners etc…)
2. We saw it as an easy way to help. Other chains have similar projects, but Fantom was lacking one.
We also find Fantoms consensus technology to be quite innovative, more so than other chains.

With an explosion in Launchpads (albeit on different blockchains), over the past year or so, can you tell us what differentiates Fantom Oasis from others?

1. First, there’s no real competition yet on Fantom itself. There are other launchpads, but they aren’t really launching any projects…
2. FTMO comes from the grassroots community. It’s run by developers and community members, we have 10 node runners invested, many other telegram personalities are in, it’s organic and not a top-down corporate project.
The latter point gives us greater flexibility to act and greater understanding of the market than any competition could feasibly have.

Whereas tomb for example has one developer and 10 corporate managers who aren’t really in touch with the community…. we have 10 developers and a couple managers who have hodled, staked and bled in the trenches with the community over the years.
We understand the ecosystem on an intuitive level.

What is the Fantom Oasis ($FTMO) token used for? Can you describe the Tokenomics?
Lord Wilmore|FTMO
So, the token itself is used as a gateway to obtain large and cheap allocations to the projects we launch. If you don’t purchase our token but still use our platform, you’re essentially getting the project at market rate rather than a deeply discounted rate. And your allocation is reduced.

Ok I see. So, are there tiers?

No. That’s another way we are different. We decided to do a spectrum based on relative rank of your holdings.
Users must stake the token to get this allocation. Anyways, not staking results in severe devaluation of your holdings. We wanted to punish speculators and reward stakers.

No matter how much you hold there is a maximum “best” deal you can get per project launch. And vice versa with no matter how little you hold.
The quality of your allocation depends on your relative staking rank.

So just to understand this better. If I stake 100 tokens or if I stake 1000 tokens, there is a maximum allocation, but the allocation amount is proportional to how many $FTMO tokens I’m staking correct?

Mostly correct. We didn’t make it proportional however to avoid a whale dominating the allocation.

For you Lord: It’s been said that your telegram channel can get a little rowdy and sometimes crude and unless I’m mistaken, you seem to enjoy that. We all like to have some fun but do you have another reason for this?

Well, that’s a good question actually and I’m glad you asked.
Firstly, we do have a serious chat as well.
But secondly, we believe in controlled outlets for the community to express their thoughts and emotions whatever they may be. Making everything totally stuffy and rigid prevents honest flow of information and ultimately makes the project weaker.
We enjoy descending into the muck on occasion. If we were trying to scam you for example, we would try to eliminate these avenues so we could give off a false aura to those who are less experienced.

I consider it yes. I consider all crypto defi except for art nfts. Lol
Crypto is at its core is defi, and vice versa. They are one and the same in my mind.

What projects have you partnered up with so far as Launchpad? Are there any that have already launched? Are there any in the works?

Yes, we performed one launch already, Treeb, but we have many more in the pipeline. After the conference (which all team members will be attending) stakers will see the fruition of everything we’ve been working on.
That’s the timeline we’ve been looking at.

What criteria do you seek for projects contemplating launching through your launchpad? And what kind of due diligence do you undertake?

We look for projects that meet a few criteria.
1. First and foremost, is the code legit? To verify this, we have our developers audit them. Roughly 5 experienced soldity devs picking apart every aspect and every line.
2. Do we think launchpad stakers can profit given the initial price they are launching at and tokenomics?
3. Do we think the project as a whole can succeed and is well adapted to the ecosystem?

Excellent and Congratulations on this as I find there are some launchpads that do not exercise enough due diligence, and this ends up hurting investors and repels them from this space.

When we look for a strategic partnership, we think it actually should mean something as opposed to just being a pretty name we put to temporarily pump the price.
That was why the first thing we did was get so many node runners involved.
